  • Debating Competition

    Mon 30 Apr 2018

Wednesday 28h March saw the final of the debating competition between Bevois Town Primary School and Mansbridge Primary School. Initially, students practiced the skills they learnt from the initial session through the telephone game in order to build their confidence. Then, in an exciting event, the students from years 4 & 5 debated whether ‘Schools Days Are the Best Days of Your Life’ and ‘Children Shouldn’t be Stopped From Using the Internet.’ Schools were split into teams of 4 and given a side to debate from, whether they agreed with that side or not! They were given some time to prepare an argument for their side and then faced their opposition. Students all worked really well and debated with exceptional clarity but the overall winners were Mansbridge Primary. Well done Mansbridge.

  • Y5 Olympic Day

    Mon 30 Apr 2018

On Wednesday March 21, 290 pupils from our local feeder Primary Schools: Mansbridge, Bassett Green, Mount Pleasant, Swaythling and Bevois Town, joined us at Cantell for our annual Olympic Taster Day. To make new friends and develop confidence, students were placed into groups with students from other schools. Named after an associated 2020 Olympic Games Tokyo stadium, students explored sports such as handball, tennis, athletics, rugby, basketball, cycling, gymnastics and trampolining. It was an exciting day and students enjoyed a picnic lunch in the school canteen. Each and every student demonstrated high levels of commitment and courtesy and did their schools proud! We now look forward to next year's Olympic Day.
